Would I make that up? To make matters worse, my father worked for the phone company. So, the hand-me-down briefcases were the brown leather satchel types, with a zipper. If they would have been the black hard shell executive type, I might have maintained a modicum of cool. No such luck.
Still, it's given me something to forgive my father for, which is good practice for a pastor don't you think?

In junior high, my parents wouldn't buy me a backpack. Instead, I had to use my dad's cast off briefcases. As soon as I was able in highschool, I started buying my own backpacks.
Through college and then my masters, I wore out two or three backpacks each.
In my first 'job' as a 'professional,' I tried the briefcase again. I still didn't feel anything but old. I still carry one every day to and from the office.

I won't reveal all the contents, but:
1 - #12/1.0 mm chochet hook
1 - altoid (no container)
4 - AA batteries in a ziplock bag
1 - pen sized flashlight (dead AAA battery)
1 - utility tool wrapped with several yards of thick string
1 - large embroidery needle (stuck in the yards of thick string above)
2 - containers of dental floss
1 - razor
1 - toothbrush
1 - thermometer
oh and there's some work stuff in there too.

I figure, I never know when I'll be called on to climb a mountain, that or I just never graudated to a briefcase.

My goodness girlfriend that's a lot of stuff. I'm currently rockin the J- Sim black "leather" hobo that is so heavy it gives me shoulder pain. One of the straps is hanging by threads from strain! I won't get into the contents here but I thinks it is time for me to join you in the mom backpack club!

LOL on the subway sandwich!
