MamaBloo Wants to Know: Is This Happening At Your House, Too?

§ June 3rd, 2010 § Filed under Questions for my readers § Tagged § 4 Comments

So, there seems to be something going on at my house.  Perhaps there is some strange moon cycle  or the planets are out of alignment. Something in the water, perhaps?  But it seems that anyone who has never carried a baby in their womb is INCAPABLE of closing closet doors and actually putting the laundry into the basket (instead of next to it on the floor, or draping over the side). Not to mention all the empty toilet paper holders in the house even though there is a Costco size package of toilet paper in the pantry.   I am still scratching my head about how the little gremlin got into our house that stashed so much, uh, stuff under everyone’s beds.  And I am quite certain I did not sign up to re-recycle our recycleables that somehow don’t quite make it to the bin.  Hmmmm… fascinating….

Am I alone or is this happening at your house, too?

MamaBloo Wants to Know: Where Would You Go?

§ March 9th, 2010 § Filed under Questions for my readers § Tagged , , § 2 Comments

I am loving all this Spring weather around here. Bring on the Global Warming, if it means more sun! All this sun — even in patches — has gotten me in the mood for a vacation. So, my question for you all today is:   What is your dream vacation? or if that is too much to wrap your mind around, how about this:  Where would you just love to go for Spring break?

For me, I will take anywhere that is not my house.  I’m thinking like down the street in someone else’s house while they are away would probably re-charge me.  But, to be true to my own question, I will say that my dream vacation is a toss up between Italy and Greece.  I’ve never been to either, but I have wanted to go to Greece ever since a college buddy told me about his adventures in Greece one of which involved another friend winding up in the back of some local’s truck and driving off into the darkness after … well… indulging in the local greek beers a tad too much. Of course, that isn’t why I want to go there. He also described the beaches and the food.  And Italy… oh please just get me to Florence where I can feed he English -Teacher-Nerd-Esque part of me by walking where Dante walked.  That and the gelato. And the art.  And the countryside.  I will stop now.

How about you?

MAMABLOO WANTS TO KNOW: Date Night?

§ February 2nd, 2010 § Filed under Questions for my readers § Tagged , , § 7 Comments

Oh yes, I have heard of these… these… DATE NIGHTS?  They are a rare and exotic creature in our house.  The planets have to align just right, there must be a elder in town (aka Grandma Bloo) from the faraway regions (aka Yakima, WA), and there must be well, honestly, the date night participants cannot be in a knock-down-drag out fight….

Dave and I are simple folk.  We’re not foodies or art-lovers.  The perfect date night for us is a night at a pub (one of our favorites is THE ATTIC  in Madison Park, Seattle) having pub food and a malt beverage.  Even better if there is a Seahawk or Mariner game on while we dine.  Follow that up with a walk somewhere interesting — along the water, on a trail, down a city-block — winding up in a bookstore to browse.  We may throw in a movie if there is something we are dying to pay $75 (it seems) to see.  Our only rule is we are only allowed to talk about the kids in the car… once out of the car, we must talk about something else.  Oh, our other only rule is that no one is allowed to puke.  We once went on a three-in-a-row date night stint where one of us ended up puking at the end of the night.  No, we did not over-indulge… the flu, food poisoning, and vertigo were the culprits.

What does YOUR perfect date night look like?

MamaBloo wants to know: One thing!?

§ January 19th, 2010 § Filed under Questions for my readers § Tagged § 11 Comments

Okay, take air and shelter out of this equation — I will also not judge you if you don’t  say kids, or husband, or wife, or mom, or Jesus. But here is the question today:   What ONE THING do you need to “make it” each day?  What do YOU need to feel like yourself?  Please post a comment and let me know.

For me, it is hands down SLEEP.  Am I cop-out on that one?  Okay, how about this one then… a SHOWER.  You may not know it to look at me, but I need a shower each day.  I can wait if I have to.  I can take my shower at night if the morning just gets away from me.  But standing in that boiling hot water washes away all the crud… USUALLY no one comes to talk to me in the shower…. I can think, pray,  and sometimes cry (if I need to) in the shower.  Sometimes I take two… sometimes three… yup… three in one day.  I love them THAT much.

Beyond that I should probably be totally honest and say a HAIR BAND.

How about you?
