Q.  How did you come up with the name “MamaBloo”?

A.  Well, first of all, I love the sound of the word “bloo”.  It is just a cool word; it rolls off the tongue, it has imagery, it is really, really fun to say.  Then, I came across all these great colloquial meanings to the word (see “What is a Bloo”?) that were spot-on for what how I wanted to be known…and VOILA, I had my blog title.

Q.  Why start a blog at all?

A.  Writing is my passion. As is my family, education, and telling other people what to do.  I also really love to pull my hair over computer and technical issues — okay, that last part was lie.  Let me say this.  I have found the journey of marriage and motherhood so bizarre, so confounding so comment-worthy  that I just have to write about it.  If I get my blog right, it will be a cross between Anne Lammott, Erma Bombeck, and me.  I really hope I make people think, laugh, or shake their heads.

Q.  With 5 kids, how do you find time to publish a blog?

A.  No shower, kids parked in front of the TV, pizza for dinner, and a messy house.

Q.  Can I email you?

A.  Uh, well, you can post something on my page, but a direct email will most likely get buried in my inbox until my baby graduates from high school.  Seriously, I do strive to read everything that comes my way, but I probably will not respond as I will be too busy reading your email over and over deciphering the subtext and wondering if you like me.

Q.  Why do  your nieces live with you?

A.  Out of respect for my nieces, I just can’t discuss that on my blog. At least not yet.  There may come a day when that discussion will make sense.  I can say that the situation is final and that we are one heck-of-a blended, shaken, and stirred family.

Q.  What are the ages of your kids?

A.  Jade (13), Izzy (12), Lily (9), Ty (4) and Emme (baby).

Q.  What is your philosophy on sarcasm?

A.  I think the answer to that is self-evident.  We use sarcasm as a parenting tool, a coping tool, and a communication tool.  All my kids understand it, and they know that if they’re going to make it in this family, they better learn to WIELD it.
