Our favorite date is a weekend away. Yes. The entire weekend. No kids. Great meals. Great walks. Great sex. There it is.
Otherwise, we’ll take a date at Barnes & Noble over coffee and big picture books. It’s time for one.

Date nights are few and far between in this household, mostly for lack of good childcare. But when we do go out, we like to get dinner and just spend time together. Sometimes we window shop, sometimes we see a movie, usually we end up at the coffee shop just to have alone time. Before we had kids (when we lived near LA and had more money) we tried to go to the theater at least once a year for a broadway show. Oh how I miss those days!

I love going to a yummy place and sitting at the bar and getting tapas or the like and making friends with those around us. Ben and I did this at “How to Cook a Wolf” on Queen Anne this summer. Yummy food!! We met lots of interesting people. The bartender was awesome and loved chatting with Ben about his trade secrets which of course he loved! He made the best Vesper! It was a really fun night that I’d like to repeat…

a cup of coffee, a walk anywhere, browsing for something we both want and have money in hand for, a pub with or without a game on, people watching from a bench on a sunny afternoon, a drive up the mountain and sometimes a movie and dinner.

Date nights are few and far between for us too – all our family lives very far away, but only recently have we begun to use a sitter that we trust. My husband and I love food, so dinner out is always top of our list.

Ha! Your comment about puking is hilarious! On the second-ever date with my (now) husband, I was so nervous I had to fling open the car door and puke right there while sitting in a parking lot. Praise God for grace because he went out with me again. :)

Our perfect date night (as rare as they may be) is dinner at our favorite hole-in-the-wall Mexican joint with a frozen strawberry margarita. Then maybe some window shopping hand-in-hand. And we both work from home and are with the kids every minute they are not at school, so we follow your same rule.
